The Pendle Home

The Pendle Home is owned and managed by a couple who are both Registered Nurses by profession. They Both have extensive nursing experiences for more than 26 years. They have worked in Nursing homes and Home health agencies where they acquired their skills and love for geriatric patients.

For the last 20 years they have been doing acute nursing care in our local hospitals, Mel is an ER nurse and Ma Liza is a Cardiac nurse.

They both consider Nursing as a blessing and an opportunity to serve the community in a lot of ways hence The Pendle Home is another avenue for them to serve and the best part is they get to live with the residents and become like family to them.

Our 93 year old Mom was living in a senior retirement community and her health and dementia were declining rapidly. We finally came to the conclusion that she needed more help than she could get where she was, so my sisters and I started looking for a group home. We wanted to keep her in a home-like environment and not a nursing home where the patient care-caregiver ratio was high. We found the Pendle Home and were immediately impressed by the cleanliness, warm, homey setting. She has her own room, furnished with items that familiar to her, the caregiver ratio is practically one to one, and they provide her with excellent care. They provide her with activities such as singing, coloring, tossing a ball and hold parties for every holiday. The caregivers there treat her as if she was their family, and notice when things don’t seem just right with her and take immediate action to correct the issue, if possible. Our family can call her or visit anytime we want and the owners give us occasional text message updates as needed. She seems to be very happy there and that is what is most important to us. The care and attention she receives at the Pendle Home is 5 star and all the people working there are so nice and welcoming to us every time we visit. I would recommend the Pendle Home to anyone who needs to consider alternative care for their elderly parent. The peace of mind that we have knowing our mom is well cared for and loved is a tremendous weight off our shoulders because we don’t have to worry about her as much as we did when she lived by herself.

Our Mom has been at the Pendle Home for three months and we are so grateful for our decision to move her there. We toured a few places and none compared to the Pendle Home. The clean, spacious, and bright surroundings in the house itself were so cheery and welcoming that we felt happy there immediately. The Owners and Staff welcomed us as family and cared not only for our Mom, but also us and our need to know she was safe and okay.

The Owners, MaLiza and Mel are always so loving and upbeat that our Mom has grown to love and trust them and she tells us how happy she is living there. We are impressed that they are very proactive in assessing her needs and helping prevent illness as best as possible. The Staff sing, dance and pray with her. They provide a variety of delicious homemade and beautifully presented meals three times a day. She is treated with dignity and patience. They communicate with our family members to keep us informed of any of her physical, emotional or social changes.

Our Mom is able to have visitors at the Pendle Home which is nice for her friends and our extended family. There are plenty of places to visit with her privately, although we enjoy visiting with all the other residents too. It feels like family! We appreciate being able to call her during the day to visit with her on the phone when we are not able to get there to visit.

Thank you to each and every person at the Pendle Home – you have made it possible for us to be at peace with our decision to move our Mom into a place where she receives high quality 24 hour care.
